Candidates for Mayor

Richard Gould

I have lived in Calvin Township for 44 years and have served as Mayor with a strong commitment to our community and its residents.
During my time on Council, I have worked on municipal finances, emergency services, telecommunications and other issues where Calvin’s interests needed to be defended and our voice heard beyond the Township.
I believe being Mayor means more than attending meetings—it means knowing the issues, doing the work and standing up for Calvin when it matters.
I am seeking another term because there is still work to be done, and I remain ready to do it; for more information, visit www.richardgould.ca.

Danielle Albright

I am running for Mayor of the Municipality of Calvin because I care deeply about this community and its future.
Calvin is a friendly, rural place where neighbours know and support one another.
As we grow, I want to protect the sense of community that makes it such a special place to live.
I served as a councillor from 2008-2014 and as a municipal administrative assistant from 2025 to 2026 and these experiences have given me a view of municipal decisions from both the council table and the office, which is unique.

Candidates for Council

Mark Robinson

I’m running for Calvin Council because I care deeply about the community we call home.
I believe everyone deserves to be heard and treated with respect.
I want to listen, understand what matters to our residents, and work together.
My goal is simple: to help preserve what makes Calvin special while building a strong future together.

Chet Bassani

I am running for Calvin Council because I would like to be a responsible, integral part of our community’s future.
I feel a united community can achieve great things through these tough geopolitical times.
I want to hear all perspectives from any interested township residents.
I want to represent our constituents with integrity, honesty and impartial judgement.

Dean Grant

Calvin is a great place to live. Running for municipal councillor is one way I can give back to my community.
I’m an experienced councillor and welcome the opportunity to serve the ratepayers for another term.

Darrell Carew

I believe in showing up, doing the work, and following through because good ideas matter, and what we accomplish together for Calvin is even better.
Calvin is a small community, and that can be one of our greatest strengths, and I want to encourage more opportunities for neighbours to connect, participate and feel like they are part of the community.
You don’t have to agree on everything but listening to one another, and showing respect will make residents feel comfortable sharing their ideas and concerns, and to know that their voices matter.
Moving Calvin forward takes cooperation between Council, staff, and residents, and community organizations and I believe we can accomplish more when we focus on what we have in common and work toward practical solutions together.

Wannetta Sparks

I'm running for council because I noticed that this community is losing its integrity.
I also understand the challenges it's facing.
I believe in honest leadership that listens, learns and acts in the best interest of the community.
Your trust is my greatest motivation.

Jeremy Rodgers

I am running for Council to represent the best interest of the community and move the municipality forward.
I am committed to work with those elected to make positive change and I make decisions based on common sense and what is best for the majority.
I believe there is a lot of work to do and am committed to giving my best efforts at all time while in office.
On election day, please put your trust in me, I will not disappoint.

Helen Michaud

I am proud to run for the role of Councillor as I was born and raised in Calvin and because I want to preserve the community to continue to retain and welcome new residents in the future.
I want to be the voice of our residents by listening to their concerns and bringing the concerns forward.
During my 34-year career with CRA I gained an understanding of the responsibilities, protocols, and roles of government, this experience will be an asset working with Calvin Council members.
As Councillor I will work toward improving transparency and communication within our Municipality.

William Moreton

My wife and I moved here 19 years ago and I have been on the Volunteer Fire Department for the past 16 years. We are both very active in the Calvin community that we love and call home.

While the township was drowning in chaos in 2022, we have been able to restore the township and are moving forward. You expected responsible community leadership and transparency from me, which I believe I have helped to provide. I attend most of the Calvin events and talk with anyone and everyone. Call me, we can talk 705-200-9966

Robert Latimer

Over the past 4 years the current council has rebuilt and stabilized the municipal administration and public works teams.
We have dealt successfully with significant challenges and there will always be new ones to contend with, so for continuity it is important to have in place a Council that is experienced, stable and willing to work together.
With a newly developed 5 year strategic plan in place to follow and the division and anger behind us the Municipality of Calvin is on a good path forward.
Now is not the time for big changes.

Proxy Voting

Appointing a voting proxy

If, for any reason, you will be unable to personally cast your ballot, you may appoint someone to go to the voting place and cast a ballot on your behalf. This person is called your voting proxy.

To appoint a voting proxy, you must fill out two copies of the Appointment for Voting Proxy Form (Form 3) and give the copies to the person that you are appointing as your proxy. Both copies must have your original signature on them. You cannot sign one form and then photocopy it.

You must know who you want to appoint as your proxy when you fill out and sign the form. The person you want to appoint must be eligible to vote in the election, and should be someone you trust to mark the ballot in the way you have instructed them to.

Being a voting proxy

If someone has appointed you as their voting proxy, you must take the completed forms to the municipal clerk to get them certified. Once the forms have been certified, you may cast a vote on behalf of the person who appointed you.

If you are appointed as the proxy for one family member, you may also be appointed as the proxy for additional family members.

Family member refers to a spouse, sibling, parent, child, grandparent or grandchild. There is no limit to the number of times you may be appointed, but it must only be for family members. You cannot be appointed as a proxy for a non-family member and a family member at the same time.

If you are appointed as the proxy for a person who is not a family member, you can act as the proxy for this one person only. You cannot be a proxy for anyone else.
