Algonquin Provincial Park features a, largely, mixed-wood forest (sugar maple, hemlock, yellow birch) spanning 7,725 square kilometres.
It contains significant old-growth stands, some over 400 years old, though roughly 65% of the park allows industrial logging.
The forest is managed by the Algonquin Forestry Authority.
