6/6/2010 - 2010 Inaugural Council Meeting

The inaugural meeting shall be held at 7 pm on Tuesday December 14, 2010 at the Calvin Community Centre as set by By-law No. 2010-016.

6/7/2010 - 2010 Election Advance Polls

Advance Polls have been set by By-law No. 2010-015 to take place as follows at the Calvin Community Centre:

Saturday October 16, 2010 during the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. and;

Wednesday Octboer 20, 2010 during the hours of 2 pm and 7 pm.

6/9/2010 - Joint Municipal Election Compliance Audit Committee

JOINT MUNICIPAL ELECTION
COMPLIANCE AUDIT COMMITTEE
The Councils of the Municipalities of Calvin and Mattawan, the Township of Papineau-Cameron and the Town of Mattawa invite applications from citizens who wish to be considered for appointment to a Municipal Elections Compliance Audit Committee to represent all of the above-named municipalities. This is a volunteer appointment.
The term of office will expire on November 30, 2014.
Mandate:
If one or more applications are received for an audit of municipal elections expenses of one or more candidates, the Committee will be required to:
a) consider a compliance audit application received from an elector and decide whether it should be granted or rejected;
b) if the application is granted, appoint an auditor;
c) receive the auditor’s report;
d) consider the auditor’s report and decide whether legal proceedings should be commenced;
and
e) recover the costs of conducting the compliance audit from the applicant if there were no apparent contraventions and if there appears to be no reasonable grounds for having made the application.
The powers and functions of the Committee are set out in subsections 81(3), (4), (7), (10) and (11) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.
Membership:
Members will be selected based on one or more of the following criteria:
a) proven analytical and problem solving skills;
b) experience working on a committee, task force or similar setting;
c) excellent oral and communication skills;
d) knowledge and understanding of municipal election campaign financing rules;
e) accounting, legal or academic professional.
Persons interested in, and eligible, to serve on the above Committee are asked to submit a letter of interest outlining their qualifications to:

2010 MUNICIPAL ELECTION

NOTICE

is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the

Municipality of Calvin

Nominations in the Municipality of Calvin for the offices of:

Mayor – One (1)

Councillor(s) - Four (4)

Nominations may be made by completing and filing in the office of the Clerk on the prescribed form and accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $200.00 for the Head of Council (Mayor) and $100.00 for all other offices. The filing fee is payable by cash, certified cheque or money order only, payable to the Municipality of Calvin.

A nomination will only be certified where the Clerk is satisfied that the person is qualified to be nominated and that the nomination complies with the Act.

The nomination must be signed by the candidate and may be filed in person or by an agent, at 1355 Peddlers Dr. Calvin Twp., during regular business hours (8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) between January 4, 2010 and September 9, 2010 and between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on

September 10, 2010 (Nomination Day)

Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the said offices, the voting place will be opened on the date stated below for the purpose of voting.
